Bud Light has lost a whopping $20 billion since teaming up with the transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for an ad campaign back in April. Now, things have gotten even worse for Bud Light, as Mulvaney has publicly turned on them.

Mulvaney Turns On Bud Light

Daily Mail reported that Mulvaney, 26, took to Instagram to post a video in which she slammed Bud Light for not standing by her over the past few months.

“I was waiting for the brand to reach out to me, but they never did. I’ve been scared to leave my house,” Mulvaney said. “For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse than not hiring a trans person at all.”

“Because it gives customers permission to be as transphobic and as hateful as they want. There’s should be nothing controversial or divisive about working with us,” the transgender influencer continued. “I have been ridiculed in public I’ve been followed and I have felt a loneliness that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”

In this same video, Mulvaney admitted to losing the can that Bud Light sent her with her face on it to commemorate her “365 days of womanhood.”

“I realized that I needed to protect this can so I hid it somewhere and I can’t find it because I hid it so well,” she claimed. “But when I do find it, I feel like it needs to go in a museum, preferably behind bullet-proof glass. One thing I will not tolerate people saying about me is that I don’t like beer because I love beer and I always have.”

Bud Light Responds

Bud Light has since fired back through its parent company Anheuser-Busch with a brief statement, though the brand was careful not to mention Mulvaney by name.

“As we’ve said, we remain committed to the programs and partnerships we have forged over decades with organizations across a number of communities, including those in the LGBTQ+ community,” the statement read, according to Fox Business.

“The privacy and safety of our employees and our partners is always our top priority,” the statement continued. “As we move forward, we will focus on what we do best – brewing great beer for everyone and earning our place in moments that matter to our consumers.”

Bud Light’s Betrayal

The New York Post reported that in the week that ended on June 17, Bud Light sales dropped by a whopping 28.5% from where they were at this time last year. In the wake of the Mulvaney ad campaign, conservatives launched a highly effective boycott of Bud Light that continues to this day.

“Bud Light’s missteps felt like a betrayal to both its liberal and conservative customers, and that trust is going to take months, if not years, to rebuild,” Daniel Korschun, an associate professor of marketing at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, recently told The New York Times.

Mulvaney’s latest video just goes to show that Bud Light has backed itself into a corner in which both sides want nothing to do with them. Bud Light has learned the hard way that “go woke, go broke” is very real indeed, and this may just be the end for them.
