Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) suggested that there are “very few” innocent Palestinians living in Gaza and likened any such reference to calling people “innocent Nazi civilians” during World War II.

Mast’s contentious remarks were made in a speech on the House floor Wednesday.

“I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of ‘innocent Palestinian civilians’ as is frequently said,” he cautioned.

“I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II,” he continued.

Mast went on to rail against the “anti-Semitic” teachings in Palestinian schools and proposed that some individuals who may not fall under the umbrella of rank-and-file Hamas jihadists would “by any classical definition … absolutely be considered a terrorist.”

Mast Equates So-Called Palestinian Civilians To Nazi Civilians

Mast’s comments were controversial in the eyes of some, but he doubled down on his assertion that those who have supported Hamas in even an ancillary fashion need to be called out.

“There’s not this far stretch to say there are very few innocent Palestinian civilians,” Mast argued. “I haven’t seen the videos of the innocent Palestinian civilians that were out there trying to protect the Israelis, that were out there trying to stop attacks.”

Just a few weeks ago, Mast wore his military uniform from his time with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to work on Capitol Hill.

“As the only member to serve with both the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces, I will always stand with Israel,” he wrote on X.

Mast suggested that he was doing so as a shot at Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who has a Palestinian flag flying outside her office. Critics might view neither move as acceptable for two lawmakers whose lone focus should be in serving the United States Congress.

Mast Is A War Hero

Representative Mast has served his country with honor and distinction. He is a highly decorated Afghanistan war veteran and double amputee.

But critics have suggested his pro-war stances of late are a bit much for their liking.

Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec wasn’t gentle, responding to Mast’s latest comments and his past support for the Ukraine war effort by calling him a “neocon nut.”

Mast though, while a staunch advocate for Ukraine’s right to defend against Russia, has recently soured on sending military aid without some form of accountability.

“I can support something, but I can’t support nothing,” he said, advising that Congress had no clear objective in Ukraine. “That’s how you get what happened in Afghanistan.”

Mast rejected the idea of linking aid to Ukraine and aid to Israel.

Democrats have actively pushed the idea of taking in “innocent Palestinian civilians” fleeing the Gaza Strip, where Hamas terrorists govern and were elected by the people in 2006.
