Garth Brooks Doubles Down On Support For Bud Light – ‘I Love Diversity’

Earlier this week, we reported that the country music star Garth Brooks was defending Bud Light in the wake of the backlash that the beer brand has received for teaming up with the transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for an ad campaign.

Instead of backing away from this stance, however, Brooks is defiantly doubling down and standing by his decision to keep serving Bud Light at his Nashville bar “Friends in Low Places.”

Brooks Doubles Down On Bud Light

While appearing on “Inside Studio G” on Monday, Brooks was asked about the “stir” in the media that his Bud Light comments caused.

“Diversity, inclusiveness: that’s me! That’s always been me,” Brooks said, according to Fox News. “I get it, everybody’s got their opinions. But inclusiveness is always going to be me. I think diversity is the answer to the problems that are here and the answer to the problems that are coming.”

“So I love diversity. All-inclusive, so all are welcome,” he continued. “I understand that might not be other people’s opinions, but that’s OK, man. They have their opinions, they have their beliefs. I have mine.”

Brooks To Keep Serving Bud Light

Not stopping there, Brooks proceeded to explain why he will still serve Bud Light at his bar.

“I’m a bar owner now,” Brooks stated. “Are we going to have the most popular beers in the thing? Yes. It’s not our call if we don’t or not. It’s the patrons call – the bosses, right? Bring ‘em in there, if they don’t want it, then I got to go to the distributor saying, ‘Man, your stuff’s not selling.’ And then the action gets taken, right? But the truth is, it’s those people in those seats that make those decisions. And that’s what Friends in Low Places is gonna be.”

Brooks concluded his rant by saying that his bar is meant to be a place that values inclusivity.

“So, here’s the deal, man, if you want to come to Friends in Low Places, come in. Come in with love, come in with tolerance, patience. Come in with an open mind, and it’s cool,” he said. “And if you’re one of those people that just can’t do that, I get it. If you ever are one of those people that want to try, come.”

Bud Light In Hot Water

Unfortunately for Bud Light, however, the vast majority of Americans have shown that they do not agree with Brooks when it comes to their brand. In the weeks since Bud Light teamed up with Mulvaney, its parent company Anheuser-Busch has lost billions in market value and has suffered a 25 percent sales decrease, according to Daily Mail.

Brooks’ fellow country music star John Rich has already announced that he’s stopped serving Bud Light at his Nashville bar, which is called Redneck Riviera.

“The customers aren’t going to order it,” Rich told Fox News in another interview. “I’m not going to stock it. We’ve only got limited area. I’ve got a limited bar. It’s like… I’ve got to put beer and whiskey and vodkas up here that people want to purchase and they want to support… And brother, I can tell you right now, it’s a vicious attitude toward Bud Light.”

In the end, Brooks shouldn’t be surprised if patrons decide to drink at Rich’s establishment, rather than at his own. Bud Light has learned the hard way that when you go broke, you also go broke, and it sounds like Brooks may be in for that same lesson!
