Last week, we reported that Dove had been hit with a boycott after naming the Black Lives Matter activist Zyahna Bryant as its “fat acceptance ambassador” despite the fact that she previously ruined the life of a white student over a remark that she later admitted that she “misheard.” Now, a GoFundMe page that was set up to pay for security for Bryant has raised over $10,000 amidst this boycott.

GoFundMe For Bryant
The New York Post reported that the GoFundMe page was created by Erica Chapman, a woman from Charlottesville, Virginia who claims she is Bryant’s cousin.
“My cousin Zyahna has passionately and courageously supported important social issues since she was 12 years old. At 15, she petitioned to take down the Robert E. Lee statue and rename Lee park in Charlottesville,” Chapman wrote on the page. “The statue was taken down in July 2021. Zyahna has been a voice for many, and has helped to inspire young people all over the world to get involved in their communities to create change. Whether it’s a local family in need or a national social justice issue, Zyahna readily offers meaningful front line assistance.”
“Sadly, in today’s national climate with so many angry, violent and unpredictable people, being a visible outspoken advocate and activist comes with significant risks,” she continued. “Zyahna has been receiving hate mail and threats for YEARS, and recently they have become worse. Zyahna is currently a graduate student and we want to ensure that she is able to continue all of the work that she is doing in the classroom and in the community. We do not want to allow these racist attacks to take away from that.”
Chapman concluded by calling on readers to “please help Zyahna’s friends and family support her by ensuring she’s SAFE and protected as she continues her important work assisting and elevating marginalized people and communities. Zy is always ready to use her platform to speak out on the issues that matter the most and to help others in their time of need. We ask that you join us in supporting this urgent need.”
Aaaaaaaaaand THERE it is.
The ‘fat liberation’ BLM activist and Dove spokesperson now has a GoFundMe to ‘ensure that she is safe and protected.’

Bryant Teams Up With Dove
Bryant, 22, announced at the end of August that she was partnering up with Dove.
“My belief is that we should be centering the voices and the experiences of the most marginalized people and communities at all times,” she said at the time in a video posted to Instagram. “So when I think about what fat liberation looks like to me, I think about centering the voices of those who live in and who maneuver through spaces and institutions in a fat body.”
Bryant captioned the video by writing, “Fat liberation is something we should all be talking about … Tell us what Fat Liberation means to you using the hashtag #SizeFreedom and tagging @dove to share your story.”

Bryant rose to fame in July of 2020, when she claimed that she overheard a white student named Morgan Bettinger threaten Black Lives Matter activists in Charlottesville. After gleefully watching as Bettinger was cancelled by the cancel culture mob over this, Bryant admitted that she may have “misheard” her comments.

Megyn Kelly Rips Dove
The former Fox News host Megyn Kelly slammed Dove for teaming up with Bryant despite her history.
“Apparently Dove doesn’t have access to Google, because a simple Google search would have shown Dove that she’s a deeply problematic person,” Kelly said. “This is the person that tried to ruin the life of a white student at the University of Virginia — she tried to actually ruin this young person’s life by trying to get her expelled from the college by falsely claiming tat this young white woman had made comments about black people being ‘speed bumps’ at a BLM riot or protest in the face of the police.”
“I couldn’t care less about her fat body,” she added. “It’s more her anorexic mind that upsets me. And this partnership must end or Dove must get the Anheuser-Busch treatment.”
This was a reference to the parent company of Bud Light, which has lost over $400 million since it joined forces with the transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for a partnership back in April.

It’s sad that we live in a time when someone like Bryant is rewarded for such abhorrent behavior. Anyone who donated to her GoFundMe should really reevaluate how they spend their money.
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
