Over the past week, the left has been trying to cancel the country music star Jason Aldean over his anti-woke anthem “Try That In A Small Town.” Now, the iconic podcast host Joe Rogan is speaking out to defend both Aldean and his new song.

Rogan Defends Aldean
While interviewing the Canadian professor Gad Saad, Rogan shifted the conversation to Aldean, saying the backlash over “Try That In A Small Town” makes no sense because rap songs have lyrics that are far worse.
“I’m not saying that’s the greatest song the world has ever known, but the level of outrage coming from people that are upset about that song is so strange when there are hundreds of rap songs out there that are infinitely worse,” Rogan said, though he admitted that he enjoys rap songs himself.
Saad responded by pointing out that rap songs promote misogyny and glorify violence, and Rogan agreed with this.
“Mhmm, no complaints at all,” Rogan said. “And we’re not even talking about old stuff, there’s new stuff too, there’s hip-hop, there’s wild rock songs, there’s a lot of wild s***.”

‘Nothing Racial About The Lyrics’
Rogan then fired back at leftists who claim that “Try That In A Small Town” is a racist “pro-lynching” song.
“The racial aspect of it was crazy, because the real Antifa problems that were happening during the BLM, I think there was a lot of White people doing that wasn’t it? It was a lot of lost liberal Whites who are very angry, who decided to take up this movement and smash things,” he said. “So the racial aspect of it, there’s nothing racial about the lyrics.”

Backlash Over ‘Try That In A Small Town’
Liberals have outrageously claimed that “Try That In A Small Town” is a “pro-lynching” song, and they’ve taken issue with the fact that its music video dares to portray the violence and chaos of the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020. The backlash got to be so great last week that Country Music Television (CMT) pulled the “Try That In A Small Town” music video from its rotation.
Aldean immediately fired back by defending his song, saying that it is not racist at all.
“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” he said. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”
“There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far,” he continued. “‘Try That In A Small Town,’ for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences.”

Aldean has long been targeted by the left because he is one of the few openly conservative celebrities out there, publicly supporting Donald Trump in both the 2016 and the 2020 presidential elections. Despite the left’s attempts to cancel “Try That In A Small Town,” it has become a massive hit, even reaching number 1 on iTunes last week.
Rogan may be one of the only public figures who has the guts to back Aldean, but it’s clear that a silent majority is standing with the conservative country music star as well. We can only hope that Aldean continues to stand strong in the face of this ridiculous liberal backlash!
