The legendary comedic actor Tim Allen, who has long been one of the only openly conservative celebrities in Hollywood, is currently starring in season 2 of the Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses.” In a new interview, Allen is speaking out to reveal why he refuses to watch “ugly Santa movies” that involve “knives and stabbing.”

Allen Slams Violent Santa Movies
“I can’t watch another Santa Claus movie. Especially when they’re bad Santas,” Allen, 70, told The New York Post in a joint interview with his 14 year-old daughter Elizabeth Allen-Dick, who stars with him in “The Santa Clauses.”
“I know there are people that like the ugly Santa movies but sometimes I’m like, ‘Eh, I don’t know if I like bad Santas.’ You know, dressed up with knives and stabbing,” he continued. “I don’t like that.”
Allen first starred as Santa Clause when he played the character of Scott Calvin, who becomes Santa, in the wholesome 1994 movie The Santa Clause, going on to reprise the role in two sequels and the Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses.” When it comes to the more violent Santas, Allen may have been referring to David Harbour and Billy Bob Thornton’s takes on the character in 2022’s Violent Night and 2003’s Bad Santa, respectively.

Allen Is ‘Not Judging Other Shows’
“I’m not judging other shows,” Allen explained. “[But] this started with a director named John Pasquin, who added heart to Scott Calvin. So it wasn’t just a comedy. It really put another layer onto this about his family and about what he is. And as we’ve opened up and answered the questions, it wasn’t a mistake that Scott Calvin was picked.”
“And that Santa, as we find out in last season, he didn’t die when he slid off the roof. He turned back in and they had decided — the legendary figures and the Santa Clause — to turn him into Santa Clause,” he added. “So it’s his personality that is necessary. You needed this guy. Christmas needed this guy. And I love all that. He’s aware of the magic that he’s in. … The magic is there. The humanness is really, really responsive.”
Allen went on to say that showing Calvin’s “emotional” side and “flaws” has played a huge role in the success of The Santa Clause series.

Allen Wants To Put The ‘Christ’ Back In ‘Christmas’
This comes a year after Allen revealed that his goal with “The Santa Clauses” series was to put the “Christ” back in “Christmas,” ensuring that viewers would not forget the reason for the season.
“It originally had a lot of otherworldly characters, and ghosts, and goblins,” Allen told The Wrap of the series in November of last year. “I said, ‘No, this is Christ-mas. It’s Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday. We don’t have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it; that’s what this is about.’”
“If you want to get into Santa Claus, you’re gonna have to go back to history, and it’s all about religion,” he continued.
Allen went on to say that the show’s writers had found “a brilliant way” to incorporate religion into the plot.
“It’s really wonderful. They took a chance, and we did it really well,” he added.

God bless Allen for continuing to portray Santa Clause in the best way possible, and to avoid so much of the violence and depravity that has come with the character in other recent Hollywood depictions!
