Democrat lawmakers had a collective meltdown as the Florida House passed a bill containing a provision to name a road after conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh.
The bill was originally intended to honor former astronaut Sally Ride, the first American woman to fly in space.
Amendments led to a total of 19 roads and bridges being named in honor of people, many of them serving as memorials to fallen police officers.
The bill (HB 21) designates the “portion of Cortez Boulevard between U.S. 41 and S.R. 50/50A in Hernando County” as “Rush Limbaugh Way.”
Representative Tyler Sirois (R) noted that Limbaugh was well known for having donated “millions of dollars in charity” and “passed away in Palm Beach of lung cancer.”

Democrats Livid About ‘Rush Limbaugh Way’
The Florida Standard reports that Democrats were “furious” over HB 21 allowing for the designation of Rush Limbaugh Way.
Representative Bruce Antone (D) said he had listened to Limbaugh during Operation Desert Storm and was appalled by the “feminazis” jokes and the “racist remarks.”
Apparently locating the radio dial or the power button at the time was too difficult for Mr. Antone.
“I’ve just got a real problem designating a road after a racist,” he added.
“From that moment on, Rush Limbaugh was with me 100 percent.”

Another Democrat, Representative Angie Nixon, was beside herself.
“The disrespect has to stop. I can’t believe that we are honoring a racist,” Nixon fumed. “That’s ridiculous in and of itself.”
What’s ridiculous is calling everybody who has opposing political views a racist because you’re intellectually incapable of trying to offer an actual debate.

A Legend Gets a New Honor
This isn’t the first time Democrats suffered a near aneurysm after the state of Florida honored Rush Limbaugh.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis made a decision to lower flags to half-staff in honor of Limbaugh shortly after his passing in 2021, referring to him as “an absolute legend” and “a great person.”

Gary Farmer, the Democratic minority leader of the Florida state Senate at the time, blasted the move, saying Limbaugh “helped drive the hatred and inflame the prejudices against marginalized groups, people of color, women, and anyone who did not look like him.”
Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) echoed those sentiments saying, “Rush Limbaugh weaponized his platform to spread racism, xenophobia, and homophobia across the nation.”
Again, they can’t put together cogent arguments so every single remark is ‘OMG RACISM!!’
Rush is probably looking down and smiling, thoroughly amused by Democrats seething at yet another honor for a legendary career.

During a radio broadcast toward the end of his incredible life, deep in the throes of stage IV lung cancer, Limbaugh relished the opportunity to “hang around a long time to continue to annoy the left.”
Here we are years later and he’s still annoying the left.
HB 21 designating Rush Limbaugh Way passed the House by an 87–25 margin.
It is expected to be signed by Governor DeSantis.
Limbaugh, the conservative icon, radio legend, and conscience of the Republican Party, passed away at the age of 70 after battling Stage IV lung cancer.
He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump at the State of the Union address in 2020.
