The Hollywood star Chris Pratt of Guardians Of The Galaxy and Jurassic World fame stepped up on Monday to pay a powerful tribute to victims of 9/11 on the 22nd anniversary of the deadly terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people back in 2001.

Pratt Honors ‘The Lives Lost On September 11’

Pratt and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, the daughter of the legendary star Arnold Schwarzenegger, spent the anniversary of 9/11 visiting Pepperdine University, which displayed nearly 3,000 American flags to honor each of the victims of 9/11.

“Today, let’s take a moment to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001,” Pratt wrote on Instagram. “It’s a day that changed our world forever, but it also showed us the strength and resilience that define the American spirit.”

“I had the honor of planting the last flag at the Waves of Flag Ceremony today at @Pepperdine,” he continued. “Each flag represents an innocent life lost on that day, including a national flag for each foreign country that lost a citizen in the attack.”

Pratt went on to honor the many heroes of 9/11 who put their own lives on the line to protect others.

“As we look back on the events of that fateful day, let’s remember the heroes – the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and ordinary people who risked everything to help their fellow citizens,” he wrote. “Their courage and selflessness continue to inspire us all.”

“Let’s also pay tribute to the families who were forever changed by this tragedy,” Pratt concluded. “Your strength and the way you’ve come together as a community is a testament to the unbreakable bonds of love.”

Pepperdine’s 9/11 Display

ABC7 reported that the powerful display at Pepperdine will remain in place until September 21.

“Today we’re here to remember and to spend this time to reflect and also to be unified, and that’s an important part of this day, is to come in unity. The idea is for individuals to walk through and just to reflect and spend this time to look at each and every flag that represents somebody,” said Michael Friel, the director of communications at Pepperdine University.

Pratt’s Previous 9/11 Tributes

This isn’t the first time that Pratt has paid tribute to the victims of 9/11, as he also honored them last year on the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

“Today we remember those who woke up, kissed their families goodbye, and went to work without realizing they wouldn’t return,” Pratt wrote on Instagram at the time. “Today we remember those who risked their lives for us and our country. Forever in our hearts and in memory. #911”

In 2015, on the fourteenth anniversary of 9/11, Pratt explained why it’s so important that we never forget what happened on that day.

“In America we may have our opinions, we don’t always agree and our voices are loud,” he said, according to E! Online. “But 14 years ago we were reminded that deep down we are not divided, we are united and strong. We’ve got each other’s backs, despite our differences and will continue to as we move forward….United we can take the necessary steps toward leaving the war behind overseas and here at home.”

Unlike most modern Hollywood stars, Pratt actually loves this country, and he’s not afraid to let the world know it. We applaud him for stepping up yesterday to honor the victims of 9/11 in such a beautiful way!
