In recent years, the left has been on a quest to destroy what it means to be a man and what it means to be healthy. Gone are the days when young women idolize models like Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford.
Young women are told to embrace their body for what it is and celebrate morbidly obese stars. When young men aren’t being told they should mutilate their bodies to emulate the female form, they are still thankfully inundated with messages of fitness.
But the push to be strong and physically fit is also the latest secret sign of right-wing extremism, according to the left. Let’s look at what MSNBC columnist Cynthia Miller-Idriss had to say.
Fitness is right wing extremism now.
You know who did push-ups!? Hitler!
Stay soft boys. Don’t want anyone thinking you’re hypermasculine. pic.twitter.com/wahiffifyr

Literal extremism
Ms. Miller-Idriss wrote an OpEd on the MSNBC website titled ‘Pandemic fitness trends have gone extreme – literally’ with a subtitle of ‘White supremacists’ latest scheme to valorize violence and hypermasculinity has gone digital.‘
Her piece focuses on fitness trends associated with mixed martial arts, or MMA, in the digital sphere.
The pandemic, while awful, did help elevate new ways Americans do things, from receiving their education to keeping up with their physical fitness. Why physically go to the gym when you can work out from home, closer to your own shower and kitchen?
However, to put it delicately, her connection to young men being drawn to MMA-inspired workouts and extremism is flimsy.
She writes:
“The intersection of extremism and fitness leans into a shared obsession with the male body, training, masculinity, testosterone, strength and competition.”
If you’re like me, a warm-blooded American middle-aged woman, none of those things sound bad. The traditional male body, training, masculinity, testosterone, strength, and competition are healthy and downright attractive aspects of human nature.

Ms. Miller-Idriss goes on to write:
“Physical fitness training, especially in combat sports, appeals to the far right for many reasons: fighters are trained to accept significant physical pain, to be “warriors,” and to embrace messaging around solidarity, heroism, and brotherhood.”
If you really want to learn to accept significant physical pain, try childbirth; oh wait…men can’t give birth to babies.
But hold on a second. Since when are solidarity, heroism, and brotherhood things we should be shying away from?
Unreal! @MSNBC actually ran an article equating physical fitness to right wing extremism.
It should be crystal clear. They want you fat, dumb, dependent, & unable to question their rule. Any strength of mind, body, or soul terrifies them.

I can hear us getting fatter
The progressive left wants to convince us all that being fat is a good thing, with movements focused on “fat positivity,” “size inclusivity,” and “body acceptance.” As a woman born with a body uniquely suited for having babies (i.e., curvy), I can relate to women with curves in all the right spots.
It’s tough to find clothes that fit all my curves in all the right ways. But that doesn’t mean I’ve decided to get fat.
There is a distinct difference between curvy and just plain obese. According to the CDC, four out of ten Americans are obese, with 19.7% of adolescents and children in the U.S. in the same category.
That’s a whopping 14.7 million kids who are obese. But let’s take a look at some other numbers.
Overweight adults have a 55% increased risk of developing depression, and those who suffer from depression adversely have a 60% increased risk of becoming obese. Do you see a connection?
Because you should. Being fat is directly linked to mental health issues, and vice versa.
Over the next ten years, Type 2 Diabetes will surge by 700% for America’s youth. Again, being fat is directly linked to medical issues, and vice versa.
Wake up, America, and smell the left-wing sabotage.
Physical exertion – body building, long distance running, whatever – tends to make people conservative (at least not woke) because it forces them to confront reality of their bodies and their limitations. It’s harder to dream utopia when you run up against your own limits.

Feed the beast
What is the goal of all this fat acceptance and fitness shaming? To do what the left has always wanted from the electorate – create dependence.
Comedian Bill Maher took heat last year when he rightly declared:
“There’s a disturbing trend going on in America these days with rewriting science to fit ideology. We’ve gone from fat acceptance to fat celebration.”
The liberal firebrand isn’t wrong. Instead of idolizing body types like the late great Tina Turner, the entertainment industry elevates women like Lizzo.
Obese social media influencers have made waves demanding the world adjust to their size with movements such as #BodyEqualityInTravel. The concept behind this absurdity was that overweight travelers shouldn’t have to pay for an extra seat; they even went so far as to claim it was a human rights violation.

Besides the fact that travel via flight isn’t a human right, the petition to ‘Demand for the FAA to Protect Plus-Size Travelers’ feeds into this idea that everyone else should have to pay for the decisions of others.
Sound familiar? It should…think of student loan forgiveness.
The left wants you to believe that the government will take care of you, that you can’t dictate your own fate, and that you shouldn’t have to pay for the consequences of poor life decisions. Sounds great until you realize you are a slave to the very thing that claims to wish to save you.
There’s way too much fat body positivity on the internet. This is seriously unhealthy.

Be a man about it
This recent MSNBC hit piece against strong men who want to better their health through fitness is an attempt to remove perhaps the only roadblock the left still has towards reshaping what it means to be an American. The traditional male figure threatens the progressives because it embodies everything they hate.
A traditional man is strong, dependable, able to defend his family and property, self-sufficient, and resilient.
Aristotle wrote:
“Man is naturally inclined to form couples…human beings live together not only for the sake of reproduction but also for the various purposes of life; for from the start the functions are divided, and those of man and woman are different…”
I am a healthy fit woman who is self-employed and is the breadwinner of my family unit, yet my husband is still the man of the house – as it should be. He is an artist, the primary caregiver to our children and their educator – but make no mistake, he is a strong, fit man capable of protecting us.
The left would claim that his muscles, ability to lift heavy things repeatedly, proficiency in hand-to-hand combat thanks to his 17 years of military service, and manliness exemplify ‘toxic masculinity.’
Don’t buy the hype!
We need more strong men, and we need more fit and healthy Americans. We don’t need to strive to fit in a size two dress or be built like Mark Wahlberg (although I wouldn’t complain).
Still, we shouldn’t let progressive special interests convince us that being fat and unhealthy is what we should strive for. So for all my male readers, get out there and lift something heavy, run all those miles, and bask in being a man…trust me…all of us real women won’t mind.
Losing followers after talking about fat positivity??? idk if thats related or not but y'all know I'm a fat fursuit maker right? Unapologetically so! pic.twitter.com/M7vSmAz64O
