U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who was appointed by Barack Obama, set a trial date for former President Trump’s alleged “election interference” case for March 4th, one day before Super Tuesday.
NBC News reports that the case, which “could have a crucial impact on the 2024 race for the White House,” will now find itself being litigated “in the middle of the Republican presidential primaries.”
Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation of President Trump led to an indictment on charges related to 2020 election interference and the Capitol riot.
The charges stemming from that investigation include conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Blatant Election Interference?
Trump’s attorneys argued that a trial date set for April of 2026 was necessary, suggesting, “This is a request for a show trial, not a speedy trial.”
Smith countered with a request for January of 2024. The federal judge made a decision more closely in line with Smith’s proposal.
“This case is not going to trial in 2026,” Judge Chutkan replied.
She then ruled that it shall commence the day before the most important date on the presidential primary calendar. Super Tuesday, when over a dozen states, including California and Texas, hold their primaries, is March 5th.

Election interference is totally fine when the uniparty does it.

Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) responded to Chutkan’s ruling by calling it out for what it is: “Straight up election interference.”
“No other way to put it,” he said.

Conservatives Outraged Over The Timing
Senator Vance wasn’t the only one to notice the timing of Chutkan’s chosen start date for the “election interference” trial.
“Is the timing of it to scuttle Trump’s chances?” wondered radio host Buck Sexton. “Is it that they think they can ensure Trump is the nominee and then they can scuttle him with the legal process?”
Of course, it is. Rather than having his legal team tending to matters related to campaigning and the election, they will now be tied up in court processes and arguments against so-called election interference.
Also, note that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has requested the same exact date for the start of her trial after a grand jury indicted Trump on 13 counts following an investigation into alleged efforts to “overturn” the 2020 presidential election.
The Trump legal team is supposed to engage in a two-pronged attack while running a presidential campaign? And we haven’t even addressed trial dates yet for the two other indictments he’s facing.
Fulton County DA Fani Willis wants March 4th as the court date to begin her communist style persecution of President Trump for simply saying his election was stolen.
That is the day BEFORE Super Tuesday!!
They want to silence President Trump so he can’t campaign and they are…

“If an Obama judge setting Trump’s court date as the day before Super Tuesday isn’t election interference, then I don’t know what is,” Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Their attempts to interfere with the 2024 presidential election are so brazen it’s disgusting,” added Republican Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).
Donalds also proposed that Chutkan be “thrown off the bench.”
MARCH 4?!?! The DAY BEFORE Super Tuesday?!?!?
Their attempts to interfere with the 2024 presidential election are so brazen it’s disgusting.
Judge Chutkan should be thrown off the bench and run for DNC Chair. https://t.co/sVKCLeARh2

Judge Chutkan has also overseen the trials of over 30 defendants in cases related to the January 6 riot, with the Washington Post describing her as the “toughest” in sentencing those cases.
She reportedly has ordered at least some jail or prison time in all of those cases and often times exceeded the sentencing recommended by prosecutors.
It will be impossible for Trump to get a fair trial from a dangerously compromised and biased judge like Chutkan.
This is textbook election interference.
