Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has reportedly written to Attorney General Merrick Garland asking him to investigate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s testimony regarding gain-of-function research and the possibility he committed perjury.
The news comes via a Daily Mail report stating that Paul (R-KY) penned a letter last week “calling for an investigation into whether Dr Fauci, 82, committed perjury when he testified in front of a Senate committee in 2021.”
Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases under the NIH, has consistently denied that the NIH funded the research that may have led to the global COVID pandemic outbreak.
Fauci, who was the nation’s leading health expert during the pandemic, recently retired.
I’ve referred Anthony Fauci to the DOJ (again) for lying to Congress when he denied the NIH was funding of gain-of-function research in Wuhan. https://t.co/LuPDleRhYW

Paul Refers Fauci to the Justice Department
Senator Paul announced on Twitter that he had referred Fauci to the Department of Justice “for lying to Congress when he denied the NIH was funding of (sic) gain-of-function research in Wuhan.”
In a follow-up tweet, Paul referred to an email released just last week showing Fauci confirming that research in Wuhan was of the gain-of-function variety.
That email, dated February 1, 2020, shows the doctor stating flat-out that “scientists in Wuhan University are known to have been working on gain-of-function experiments to determine that molecular mechanisms associated with bat viruses adapting to human infection, and the outbreak originated in Wuhan.”

New emails reveal that Dr. Fauci was aware of risky gain-of-function research occurring in Wuhan, China prior to the emergence of COVID-19.

Paul also notes that Fauci’s assistants in other released emails had referred to the research by the gain-of-function label.
In May of 2021, however, Fauci testified before Congress that, “The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
#18 That’s why Senator @RandPaul accused Dr. Fauci of funding “supervirus” research in the US and “making a huge mistake” by trading the know-how to China.
Fauci denied the accusation, stating categorically: “The NIH has not ever, and does not now, fund gain-of-function research… pic.twitter.com/Ncx6bsVbJr

Paul believes the situation is pretty cut and dry.
“Likely nothing more conclusive than catching a liar lying with his own words!” he tweeted.
Last week’s release of an email in which Fauci confirms that research in Wuhan was gain-of-function adds to an email where his assistants label it GoF as well. Likely nothing more conclusive than catching a liar lying with his own words!

Tucker Carlson Called For Criminal Investigation
Emails released in 2021 also appear to show that Fauci lied to Congress about the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fauci definitively stated that the coronavirus could not have been manmade, something that has been under severe contention. The doctor’s declaration led social media platforms to block and remove various right-leaning news sources for daring to suggest otherwise.
An email from January 31st, 2020, from an immunologist named Christian Andersen, shows a discussion of the possibility.
“The unusual features of the virus make up a really small part of the genome (less than point one percent), so one has to look really closely at all the sequences to see that some of the features (potentially) look engineered,” Anderson wrote.
The next day Fauci replied, “Thanks, Christian. Talk soon on the call.”

At the time of that email revelation, the then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson called for a criminal investigation of Fauci.
“Fauci lied,” he declared.
It’s important to note that Fauci didn’t just tell a white lie. He vehemently denied gain-of-function was being done at the Wuhan lab to @RandPaul in the context of misappropriating NIH funds to illegally fund risky experiments that may trace back to Covidhttps://t.co/urIgIcSLbp

Fauci had testified to Congress that, “If you look at the grant and you look at the progress reports, it is not gain function despite the fact that people tweet that.”
“Oh, it wasn’t just on Twitter. It was in Fauci’s own emails,” Carlson retorted. “In retrospect, that looks a lot like perjury.”

Senator Paul, aside from accusing him of committing perjury, also slammed Fauci over news that taxpayers were funding his private security detail even after he retired.
The discovery came via a FOIA request initiated by “Jesse Watters Primetime.” Paul said he also had knowledge of the security detail.
“HHS actually came back to us and said they haven’t been paying for it since January. But then we discovered that Fox did a Freedom of Information Act and a judge forced them to say that, well, while HHS wasn’t directly funding it, the U.S. Marshals were funding it,” he explained.
Paul called it “a terrible example of the government lying to its representatives and to the people” and suggested Fauci’s security arrangement is on par with “a former president.”
“So I have no idea why this bureaucrat still has a limo driver security detail,” he added.
ONLY ON PRIMETIME: After months of rumors, Primetime has cracked the case. We filed a FOIA and we can now reveal that taxpayers are funding Fauci’s security detail.

It has also been proven that Fauci lied to the American people regarding the effectiveness of mask-wearing during the pandemic and the efficacy of the vaccine.
Man, remember all those media hacks who said Fauci owned @RandPaul during the exchange when the Senator said the doctor was only wearing a mask for political theater?
I’m sure everyone will be rushing to send Paul an apology and cast Fauci out as a liar. https://t.co/uk6jJQWMSp

House Republicans promised that should the GOP gain control following the 2022 midterms, they would definitely launch investigations regarding Fauci.
“If the American people put us back in charge, we are definitely going to do this (investigate Fauci),” Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) said in an interview.
We’re anxiously looking forward to them following through on that promise.
