Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) challenged Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to follow through on his threat to subpoena Hunter Biden, suggesting that the House Speaker just needs to sign on the dotted line.
Gaetz is seeking to compel Joe Biden’s son to testify before Congress in regard to their investigation into the president’s alleged impeachable offenses.
McCarthy authorized an impeachment inquiry into President Biden last week due to allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption.
The Florida congressman challenged him to haul Hunter before the House Oversight Committee to discuss his father’s involvement, if any, in his own corrupt business dealings.
“[Mr. Speaker], after eight months of inaction, I have taken the liberty of drafting a subpoena to Hunter Biden. It simply requires your date and signature. Millions of Americans are wondering if you’re serious,” Gaetz posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He added images of the subpoena awaiting signature.

Gaetz Dares McCarthy To Sign Hunter Biden Subpoena
Gaetz’s challenge for McCarthy to sign comes as the House Speaker claimed earlier this week that Hunter would be subpoenaed at the “appropriate time.”
“The one thing the American public has to understand is there’s a strategy behind everything,” McCarthy said in an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“We only follow facts. Hunter Biden will get subpoenaed, but when’s the appropriate time?” he continued. “Do you do it because television wants it, or do you do it around the facts and the timing?”

The appropriate time, of course, was yesterday. Or the day before. Or the day before that.
McCarthy has propped up the Oversight Committee’s findings of corruption involving President Biden, making it a curious call as to why he needs a certain time to bring in a witness.
“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption, and they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives,” McCarthy said in announcing his decision.
“We will go wherever the evidence takes us,” he added.
The crux of the evidence has always involved Hunter, making him the most important witness to hear from.

Not the First Person To Call McCarthy’s Bluff
Gaetz has been ramping up threats to oust McCarthy from his role as House Speaker of late. The Freedom Caucus originally opposed McCarthy’s speakership, but conservatives gave him enough votes – on the 15th attempt – after he agreed to certain demands.
One of those demands was returning to a one-member threshold for a motion to vacate the speaker’s office. All it takes is Gaetz to make a move if he becomes completely disillusioned with McCarthy’s performance, which is territory he seems to be entering.
When asked to respond to Gaetz’s “constant Twitter threats to oust him,” McCarthy cranked the sarcasm up to eleven.
Speaker McCarthy asked about @mattgaetz constant Twitter threats to try to oust him:
“Oh my god, someone tweeted about me?
“Oh my god, I’m gonna lose the speakership because somebody tweeted about me. That would’ve happened a long time ago.”

McCarthy also called Gaetz’s bluff on the motion to vacate.
“If you think you scare me because you want to file a motion to vacate, move the f***ing motion,” McCarthy said, according to a Politico reporter.

It’s odd how much vitriol McCarthy has towards Gaetz.
Over the summer, McCarthy reportedly threatened Eric Swalwell after the Democrat lawmaker called him a “weak man.”

Swalwell reportedly escalated matters by calling McCarthy a “p*ssy.”
“Call me a p*ssy again, and I’ll kick your a**,” he told Swalwell to which the Democrat replied: “You. Are. A. P*ssy.”
“After both men stared each other down for another moment, McCarthy eventually relented,” the Daily Beast reported at the time. “He stepped to the side and let Swalwell through to the bathroom — without kicking his a**.”

He couldn’t handle Swalwell, but now we’re supposed to believe he’s a tough guy when it comes to Gaetz?
Oh please.
