Presidential candidate Donald Trump feigned defending Chris Christie from jokes about his weight, saying the former governor of New Jersey is “not a fat pig.”
One of Trump’s favorite new tactics of late is to take potshots at Christie by pretending to hear somebody in the crowd insulting him. And that trend continued at a recent rally in New Hampshire.
“Who said that?” Trump said alleging someone had made an “inappropriate” comment about his rival for the GOP nomination.
“They said, this man said something he shouldn’t say. I won’t defend it,” he continued. “He said Chris Christie is a fat pig.”
Trump then explained that the use of the words ‘fat’ and ‘pig’ are generally frowned upon by the media but joked the press would have no idea how to cover these remarks “because I’m defending him (Christie).”
“He is not a fat pig,” he joked once more before returning to his speech.

Donald Trump ‘Defends’ Chris Christie
This isn’t the first time Donald Trump has used the very same routine in ridiculing Chris Christie for his weight issues. A speech over the summer saw a nearly identical bit.
That speech also took place in New Hampshire. (Maybe there is somebody in the crowd yelling this at rallies in the Granite State?)
“Christie, he’s eating right now, he can’t be bothered,” Trump said at the time. “Sir, please do not call him a fat pig. That’s very disrespectful. Don’t call him – see, I’m trying to be nice.”

Christie has fought back against Trump’s weight insults, admitting to his personal struggles.
“Breaking news … I have struggled with my weight for 20 years,” he said.
Christie also suggested Trump doesn’t have the high ground when it comes to mocking people over their physique.
“Oh, like he’s some Adonis?” he quipped during a conversation with Fox News host Howard Kurtz.
BOOM.

Trump Slams Christie in the Polls
Trump wasted little time in poking fun at Chris Christie the moment he entered the Republican primary race. He posted a doctored video of him speaking to supporters from an all-you-can-eat buffet.
“And I wondered what our choice was going to be,” Christie says in the video, which were legitimate comments he made during an announcement that he would indeed be running for President. “Were we going to be small or were we going to be big?”
Trump took that giant softball placed on a tee for him and belted out this grand slam:

Trump has also called his GOP rival “sloppy” and a “total loser” while Christie returned fire by calling the former President a “coward” for refusing to debate him.
A poll earlier this month shows Christie failing to make waves in the GOP primary, trailing Trump by a staggering 59 percentage points (61-2%).
